Helping customers cut their energy bills is the essential Green IT strategy driving computer maker HP to expand its Eco Solutions program.
The company’s specifically targeting small, medium and large businesses that want to cut energy, printing, packaging and paper costs.
For example, HP this month announced that it is:
- doubling the number of ProLiant G6 server platforms that HP says are the most energy efficient on the market
- adopting product redesigns to reduce electricity demand (and cut related greenhouse gas emissions) by 1 billion kilowatt-hours by 2011, and
- creating new printing practices to help customers save money by reducing paper and energy usage.
For the general public, HP’s pushing a green image with these new products. But its line of green computers, servers and services offers bottom-line benefits for business: lower power consumption thanks to improved energy efficiencies. The server upgrades meet EPA’s latest Energy Star specs for computer operation.
The HP press release is here.
