Small businesses don’t have to sit on the sidelines and watch others make gains in the energy-saving game.
They too are chopping overhead expenses by upgrading with new lighting technology.
Proof: Pennsylvania’s Braxton’s Animal Works, a pet supply store in Lancaster, will save over $200,000 by investing in LED lighting technology (i.e. Light Emitting Diode). A report by GreenandSave.com projects that Braxton will cut its electricity demand by 85%, (click here).
Braxton owner Dave Braxton says the upgrade will boost cash flow by $9,000 a year for the 25-year life of the LED system. Braxton took advantage of state and federal rebates to cover the cost of the lighting system installed by LED Saving Solutions. The supplier boasts that its systems reduce lighting’s energy consumption by 80%. LED Saving Solutions details typical savings here.
That 80% reduction translates directly into reductions of greenhouse gas emissions, so Braxton’s also a much greener company thanks to the upgrade.
Note: This could be an excellent time to negotiate a relighting deal, whether it’s an LED or other system. Buyers are in the driver’s seat. The lighting industry has hit tough times of late. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) reports that sales have fallen dramatically in the past year. NEMA’s press release is here.
