Like it or not, climate change is already here

It may be hard for some global warming skeptics to believe, but the effects of all those greenhouse gases (GHGs) accumulating in the atmosphere are already creating severe climatic changes.
A new study from the U.S. Global Change Research Program concludes there’s no doubt that climate change is here, and that unless action is taken to reduce CO2 and other GHG emissions, like today and right away, the effects will intensify. The program uses scientific experts from 13 federal agencies and the White House.
The report clearly makes the case that former vice president Al Gore was right about global warming.
Weather changes are already making an impact in the U.S. include more severe droughts in the Southwest, more storms in the Midwest and East and rising sea levels from Alaska to Florida. The cause? Human activity, from the industrial revolution through today.
And, what’s going to really upset those who don’t want to believe global warming is a problem, is that this report isn’t the work of President Obama, but the summation of 10 years of research conducted by the Bush administration.
The report warns that the weather changes caused by global warming will be more severe as the years pass. For example, summertime in Illinois will soon feel like steamy Louisiana.
As weather patterns change, snowpack and water supplies are already diminishing in the West, Southwest and Northwest. This hurts more than farmers and ranchers. Falling water levels in streams and rivers reduces hydroelectric power generation.
The U.S. Global Change Research Program report is here.

“To see a slide of the extreme jump in carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere compared over the past 800,000 years, click here.”
I’ve never seen that slide before, it is very disturbing.
But does this image provide convincing evidence that C02 controls the earth’s climate? Nope. It simply shows that C02 levels are the highest in 800,000 years. This is the same thing AGW Believers always do. The Skeptics ask for evidence that C02 controls the climate and they show images of elevated C02 or glaciers melting or polar bears. The AGW Believers must show that C02 is the driver of climate, otherwise the slide is irrelevant. It might as well be a slide of the highest concentrations of butterflies in 800,000 years.
Does C02 control the climate of the earth? We still don’t know. Climate scientists have been trying to demonstrate that C02 controls the climate for 40 years now and have failed to deliver.

Climate change is as real now as it has been for millions of years and will be for millions of years to come… global warming however is a hoax! There are people that want you to go green so they can gain green…and lots of it. Funny how the initiators of the movement do not even follow their own agendas. In the end you will find your wallet a lot lighter, theirs a lot heavier, and the planet in no better shape. …of course I’m just another right-winged kook that hates all that is good…carry on!
Whatever becomes is deserved…

Hmmm…I wonder if this ‘new study’ is the same one that completely disregarded scientific data because it didn’t ‘line up’ with their already-decided-upon course of action? See here:

Do you really expect us to drink this Kool Aid? There is no consensus that climate change is man made. Only the scientists employed or funded by the government promote that theory, but offer no conclusive proof. All the feds want to do is expand government and justify their existence. We ought to fire them all.

Climate change is caused by the sun, not by man. Don’t you think it’s a bit arrogant to believe that we have the power to control the earth? This green thing is all about power and taxes. Nothing else. Please spare me any additional articles on this croc!

If this “Global Warming” is man made then why does every reputable meteorologist, who’s job it is to study and understand the earth’s weather and climate, say there is not enough information to substantiate this claim.
History shows that when the Vikings settled Greenland in about 900bc it was actually green, and warmer than it is today. The earth’s climate has documented natural cycles that tend to repeat over and over again causing surprisingly fast changes in the earth’s temperature. Show me definitave proof that “green house gasses” are the MAJOR cause of the warming trend then I will look at it.
It is OK to say “I don’t know”

I agree that the green effort is costing the American people alot of money. It seems our struggle to make a better place for our children may be effortless if other countries ignore whats going on with the envrironment. Right now, there are concerns that without a binding agreement from other coutnries such as China, India, and other developing countries, the responsibility for realizing worldwide greenhouse gas reduction goals would fall entirely on industrialized countries, while developing countries continue to increase their emissions.

Let’s do something about the biggest greenhouse gas…..water vapor. Oh that’s right we can’t control the US economy and lower the standard of living by targeting, naturally, occuring water vapor. We can’t stifle growth by saying that natural cycles are playing out.
This is such a scam.

I agree with Dick…we need to fire every last legislator in 2010. These jerks are ensuring our economic demise, one ‘crisis’ after another.
CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS and tell them that you will campaign against them if they vote for this giant crap sandwich, no matter who the alternative is, and CONTACT THEM RIGHT NOW! They’re scheduled to vote on this thing tomorrow!

Who was here 800,000 years ago? If carbon content is changing, how can we carbon date something? by estimating? I agree that they have no proof. How many people are buying into this belief (religion)? I’m contacting my representatives.

All this is BS – the earth has been in a cooling period for a few years now, in fact, the NE US is in one of the coolest spring and summers in many decades. All the democRATS are trying to to is ram this legislation down our throats before the media and unfortunately, most of us, see through the charade. By then, the crap and tax bill will be delivering the highest tax increase in government history.
Change you can believe in – indeed!

Of course the federal agencies are going to goose step the propaganda.I like Pogo’s statement; “We have met the enemy and the enemy is us”.
